This is a 2012 new old stock Les Paul Custom Shop Historic 1959 R9 Standard. Never sold, or played, this piece has been stored in a climate controlled environment. The 2012 Les Pauls were the first and last year to have some bilayered fret boards at random, which can be seen by removing the nut. We have not done this. This has not been shown to be a problem. It is also the last year for Burst Buckers, which adorn the top of this guitar. Custom Buckers came in the following year. The guitar is the lightest Les Paul Custom we have seen, at 7 pounds 14 ounces- without weight relief. It was also the year that began Page Colors from the Book Beauty of the Burst. The color of this guitar is Page 58/59 which is 9 0663 which belonged to Joe Perry, and was used as the model for the Perry 59, and for this guitar. The color is called Gloss "Page 59" after the Joe Perry 59 guitar in the Beauty of the Burst Book on Page 59 as shown below. The color is reminiscent of faded tobacco but according to the notes in the book as can be seen, is not. The Joe Perry 59 came out several years later. There is a photo of one in the listing below. Returns accepted if not as described, else may be a 5% restocking fee. We do not offer a Gibson warranty as we are players and collectors and are therefore technically the first owners. We do stand behind what we sell and satisfaction is guaranteed. Please note that the photo of the guitar at the very bottom of the page is NOT the guitar for sale here!. It is there for color comparison.
92088 is an early number in the year making this likely to be a single layered fretboard.
The guitar pictured below is the 59 on Page 59, the color of which is supposed to have been matched on this guitar. This guitar belonged to Joe Perry and I believe was also used as the model for the Perry R9.
The guitar below is an example of a VOS Perry 59, which has Page 59 coloring the same as the guitar for sale here, and the example in the Beauty of the Burst book.
