The instrument was designed in collaboration between between Muse guitarist/frontman Matt Bellamy and Hugh Manson of Manson Guitars. For electronics, the guitar is loaded with a fully voiced humbucker in the bridge position, and a true single coil in neck position, along with a 3-way pickup selector switch, master volume and tone knobs, and a low-profile kill button for rapid-fire "strobe" effects. Additionally, the instrument is equipped with a fully adjustable tune-o-matic style bridge and stop tailpiece, as well as a set of locking die-cast tuners for stage-ready tuning stability. The MBC-1 also flaunts a matching matt black headstock with Matthew Bellamy's signature.
