1960 Fender Bassman Guitar Amp - The Holy Grail - Original and Awesome w/ Video
Estimated price for orientation: 4 400 $
Category: Guitar Amplifiers
Class:
Description Brand: Fender Exact Year: 1960 Model: Bassman Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
1960 Fender Bassman Amp. A piece of history priced right.Watch the sample video! Sweet chime and sparkle at it’s best, The tonal range of a good tweed Bassman like this one is stunning! That’s what a great 1960 Bassman amp can offer. Few amps can deliver a smooth, snappy but not piercing tone like the example here; especially at this starting price with no reserve. Rich, bell-like top end is highlighted in Leo’s classic 5F6 circuit. All the main components and electronics are almost completely stock including the factory wiring. The amp will do you justice on the road and in the studio. This is “THE” Fender amp to own and enjoy. All of the electronics work as intended. Solder joints are solid and the cabinet is as tight as the day it left the factory. There is evidence that some Bassman amp handles were leather in place of plastic. This handle could be original. In terms of cosmetic wear, this two-owner amp is a prime example that falls in the category of gentle, honest use. Aside from a partial recap with top quality capacitors, the amp is near stock, plays and sounds great. Many original yellow Astron caps are present in the preamp, the original transformers are intact, and the chassis itself and faceplate still look good. A 3 prong plug was added many years ago. The tube chart is intact and there are two remaining original P10Q speakers with the correct date codes that correspond with the amps serial number. The first owner bought the amp new in 1963 and changed two of the P10Q (back in the 70’s) to lower watt speakers for more compression. My servicing tech believed they could be early vintage and large Alnico magnet and valuable Fanes or Utahs. You can hear the awesome, sought-after tone in the sample video provided. The original tweed covering and grill cloth are both intact, and the tweed shows unusually light wear for an amp that was used by a professional Harp player for over 40 years. Original caps will be included. The amp is being offered with no reserve, at a starting price well under the $6,500 average market value for a 1960 Bassman in this condition. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like. Highly prized, collectible, a great player and a very reasonable starting price make this Bassman the one worth owning. Happy bidding. THE FINE PRINT: I described the condition of the amp to the best of my ability. Although this amp has been properly serviced and maintained over the years, you are buying a vintage musical instrument that may require servicing from time to time. As with any vintage instrument, proper care and maintenance should always be expected to keep it in pristine condition regarding tone and value. Feel free to email me with questions.****NOTE: Thanks for all the great questions! I will definitely post more tone samples on video for you guys. The first video barely scratched the surface of the amazing tone this amp can produce.
