Here's a 1967 Mark VI alto saxophone in impeccable condition, right in the middle of the finest range of altos Selmer ever produced. Selmer reintroduced the medium bow shortly before this horn was made. This range is considered to have the best possible combination of response and intonation. The 140's altos tend to have extra complexity and depth to the sound compared to later models. This is the s/n range that David Sanborn plays and collects. This one even has the rare vertical Mark VI stamp near the LH thumb rest. The horn is in excellent overall condition. The original silver plating is nearly 100% intact, indicating that this horn has seen relatively little playing time in its life. The horn was recently serviced and all pads are sealing well. The entire range of the horn speaks evenly and effortlessly. I believe the case is original to the horn, although one of the latches doesn't work. Sonically, this horn has a huge, lush core. It's capable of blowing down the walls if you want to push it, but there's a sweetness to the sound that is very fun to experience. This is definitely a Sanborn era sax that is worthy of its high reputation.I invite you to try this saxophone risk free. US buyers are free to return the sax for any reason, provided you pay shipping and insurance both ways.
