Up for sale a 1995 Gibson Les Paul Standard in 100% original condition with a nitro lacquer Honeyburst finish on the carved maple top! This early modern Standard comes complete with a hardshell case and has one of the nicer plain tops we've seen on a Standard from this era with light birdseye and quilt figuring on the bass side lower bout and adjacent to the speed knobs. Weighing 9lbs 10oz, this lightweight Les Paul is un-chambered, unlike many of the Standards that came after it, and the solid mahogany body has a certain sustain, punch, and fullness indicative of the early Standard models. The 490R and 498T humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with the Alnico II magnets in the neck pickup having more chime and warmth, while the Alnico V bridge pickup has a cut and snarl that cuts through with classic Gibson sizzle and snap. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Standard is setup with 10-46 strings, low action and solid intonation. The neck has a medium C profile that stays moderately slender in terms of depth at the nut, growing notably deeper in the higher registers of the fretboard and filling the palm comfortably. By the time you reach the 7th fret, the neck profile is just shy of "baseball bat" chunk and roundness, with generous shoulders and plenty of heft. The frets are in great shape, with plenty of height and roundness on the crowns, showing only extremely faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3, and virtually no wear further up the neck. The guitar plays cleanly in all positions with a straight neck and no buzzing or dead spots, and the truss rod is responsive in both directions. The nut has Gibson's traditional 1 11/16" width and the rosewood fretboard sports pearl trapezoid inlays. The headstock retains the original "Standard" truss rod cover and Gibson Deluxe tuning machines with slightly greened tulip buttons. All of the electronics work as they should, with the stock pickups showing clean "Gibson USA" stamps on the baseplates. The original wiring harness is untouched, with stock solder joints and CTS pots that date to the 14th week of '95. The chrome hardware is particularly clean, and all of the original hardware is present including the gold speed knobs, cream pickup rings, pickguard and switch surround. The original nitro lacquer finish is rich and vibrant on the top, with deep brown mahogany back and sides accented by cream binding on both the top and neck. Although a "plain top" in the strictest sense, there is some subtle figuring which is accentuated by the darker edges of the burst and carve on the maple. Cosmetically, there is moderate buckle rash on the back, and while this wear barely penetrates the finish, it is notable across roughly 1/3rd of the back of the guitar and the instrument has seen some use. In contrast, the top is remarkably clean as is the neck profile. This guitar has zero cracks or repairs of any kind, is 100% original and structurally sound. This is a clean, well cared for Gibson which has been professionally setup and is ready for stage and studio use.A non-original hardshell case is included (not pictured).
