Gibson R8 58 Custom Shop Historic Les Paul Sunburst with hardshell case 2011 Price: $3,499.00 For sale is a truly fantastic instrument from the Gibson Custom Shop. This model, the R8, is a really great and accurate recreation of the Les Paul's that were coming off the factory line in 1958. This guitar features a carved plain maple top, solid one piece mah0gany back and sides, and single-ply cream binding on the top. The rounded-profile neck is one-piece mah0gany with the original-style truss rod. The r0sewood fingerboard is finished with 22 frets, vintage trapezoid inlays, and single-ply cream binding. Tonally this guitar is vintage sounding through and through, with a nice bellow to it but also an overarching chime and vintage tinge to it. The neck pickup is big and sweet, with round and open tone that has great definition and clarity. The bridge pickup has a bunch of twang and luster that helps it burst right through any mix. When met with overdrive or distortion you are infinitely reaffirmed as to the legacy of these guitars as the spine of rock and roll. It evokes feelings of Jimmy Page with Zep at the Royal Albert Hall, Clapton cutting Beano tracks, and the countless other historical figures who became legends with an instrument like this in hand. Cosmetically this guitar is in excellent shape, with barely any sign of play to be seen. Included with the instrument is the original hardshell case and all of the case candy. If you've always wanted the look, feel and sound of those famous Gibson's of the late 50's (and we know you have) but never had the many tens of thousands of dollars to make that true (we can only assume), then this is truly a dream come true guitar that will meet all your desires without destroying your financial stability.
