This is a 1997 PRS Swamp Ash Special, (2) McCarty pickups and a Duncan split rail in the middle. All of the pickups, electronics, wiring, bridge, knobs, jack are original. Heavily flamed AAAAA maple neck, and it's a PRS wide-fat profile. Not really fat in my opinion, just full and really comfortable. It has been recently set-up, frets dressed / polished. It plays as smooth as silk, neck is dead straight all the way up and down the neck. Action is set at 5/64ths at low E 12th fret, 4/64ths at the high E 12th fret. The swamp ash body sounds very resonant unplugged. Take it out of the box and go straight to your next gig, no issues. The original hard shell case is included. This a low priced players grade guitar for the following reasons:1. Headstock repair, see pictures. Repair is solid, was done right, and it kind of blends in with the amber color heavily flamed neck, but you can see it.2. Tuners were replaced, and I'm not sure why, as stock PRS tuners are generally really good, but the Grovers that are on there now are also good, so who knows? The old tuner holes were filled and finished over, but you can see them if you look closely.3. The back was painted with a textured black paint, again not sure why, but they did a good job, and you'll never get any worming / wear marks in the back. Here's how the pickups work, as there's a coil split, tone pot is push / pull:Push Pull down: standard three way switching; Position 1 is Bridge, Position 2 is Neck / Bridge, Position 3 is Neck.Push Pull up: Position 1 is Bridge Humbucker and Middle, Position 2 is Neck single coil, Middle, and Bridge Humbucker, Position 3 is Neck single coil and MiddleIf you're looking for a great playing PRS for short money, and you're not hung up on cosmetics, this is the best deal you'll find on Reverb / EBay or CL. It's a 20 year old PRS that plays and sounds great for a great price.
