Vintage Vox AC50 Guitar AmplifierThis amplifier is in fantastic condition both in terms of its cosmetics and operation:Cosmetic appearance: Please check the pictures, but the cosmetics are about as good as you get for an amplifier of this age. The black telex and grille cloth are undamaged and the circuit boards are clean and tidy Features: The amp features Normal and Brilliant channels that both offer volume, bass and treble, and there are high and low inputs for both channels that can be linked with a patch cable. On the rear there is an output for 8 or 16 ohm speaker outputs and a wired-in power cable.Operation: Despite the simple configuration, the amp offers an enormous range of tones ranging from glassy clean to bold / punchy and full crunch when you open it up. The tone controls are very interactive and and shape the tone much more than modern amps typically do. Needless to say that this amp can be very loud if you turn it all the way up, but you don't need to do that to get a god sound. Many high power amps sound feeble at low volumes, but this is not the case with the AC50, even at low volumes you get a fantastic tone that can punch you in the chest. This particular amp also has a very low noise floor and does not hiss, pop or hum as many amps of this age typically do, when you're not playing it's easy to forget that its turned on! This makes for a fantastic recording amplifier.I'm very sad to see this amp go, but with work and young family it just doesn't get enough use anymore, I'd rather that a treasure like this was being used by someone with more time.I'm not sure the exact age of the amplifier, but the Serial Number is 75065140 and articles on http://www.voxac50.org.uk suggest to me that this is a Mark 3, but I might be completely wrong. Ultimately what attracted me to the amp was how great it sounded rather than any particular lineage. Please see a separate listing for a Vox 2x12 cabinetParticulars:Cash on collection preferred as this is quite a heavy amplifier, but will post worldwide at the buyers expense. I've estimated £25 for UK postage and will endeavour to send this as cheaply as possible, so please contact me before paying. I'm also willing to deliver in the East Midlands for the cost of petrol, or meet somewhere mid-way if convenient. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions
