This fantastic horn is a very neat piece of late 1950s American trumpet history. From the makers of the famous Holton line of trumpets, here's an original 1959 vintage Holton USA Model #45 professional trumpet in very nice condition. The shiny gold-lacquered brass finish is at least 95%+ intact (WOW!) and looks great with a nice bright luster. There are a few small areas where the finish has rubbed off mainly where the hands touch the horn, but as the pictures show the gold tinted brass lacquer is nicely intact. Holton finishes are very durable for horns of this vintage. This trumpet also has fancy nickel silver trimming on the caps, buttons, braces, ferrules, finger hook, 3rd slide ring and both water keys. Obviously this trumpet was well cared for by the previous owner and lovingly maintained. Bell is engraved with "HOLTON 45 ELKHORN, WIS. U.S.A." surrounded by a nice fancy engraved pattern. The serial number is 321XXX which makes this a late 1959 vintage horn according to Holton serial number charts. This trumpet has buttery smooth quick valves with all the valve plating is nicely intact. Holton's valve pistons have proven to be one of the best in the brass industry. All slides are free and have just been lubricated. There are a few small minor dings in the trumpet if you look closely, I just wanted to mention them in full disclosure. No significant dents anywhere and no signs of repairs either. This trumpet features a fixed 3rd slide ring, traditional lever water keys, and mother-of-pearl finger buttons. It's a gorgeous horn as the pictures show and you'll be proud to own it. The Holton Model 45 trumpet is known to be open blowing with a sparkling centered tone with just the right amount of edge. It's really a joy to play and a fine example of this model.
