Also known a the New York Symphony model, this 22B is an excellent playing example of one of the best selling trumpets in the early part of the 20th century. Malcom McNab used one in the studios of Los Angeles recording for years. Both Robert Nagel and Allen Dean played 22B's in the New York Brass Quintet. The 22B remains popular today! Classic beautiful tone! This 1928 Conn 22B with satin silver, gold wash and beautiful engraving comes with the original case which is weathered but all latches work, a quick change rotary valve tuning crook (Bb & A), lyre, mpc, AP-300 mute and swab pull. Beautiful mother of pearl touches on the bottom valve caps. Conn #1 bore. The letter "B" after serial #257511 denotes that the bell is made of French Brass... no doubt the reason the response is so quick in all registers.
There is no corrosion, no red-rot. The valves are quick and responsive with lots of compression. Mother of pearl on the finger buttons show little wear. The instrument has never had any repair work done to it... never suffered any trauma or damage. It has been fully serviced and comes with fresh pads, corks and springs. There are some minor flaws to the finish which I've tried my best to show. These do not affect the playing whatsoever. The instrument is completely original although I had Bob Malone add the right hand finger ring in the 80's. That's the only alteration. The instrument has been meticulously maintained by the former principal trumpet of a major USA orchestra and is ready to play right out of the box.
