Up for sale, a 1968 Supro Clermont model S667 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This collector-grade example is complete with the original Supro warranty card, vibrato arm accessory bag, and form fit chipboard case. Produced only from 1967-68, the Clermont was offered alongside the similar Croydon model and is the more deluxe of the two instruments, with a chrome vibrato unit. Crafted in the USA by parent company Valco (who were also responsible for National, Airline, and other notable vintage brands), this Supro delivers thick, glassy, and powerful single coil tones through a pair of chrome topped, humbucker-sized pickups. These single coils utilize large ceramic magnets to deliver a tone that is punchy and authoritative, taking full advantage of the warmth of the hollowbody construction and the note attack typically associated with maple. Very player-friendly with its 1 3/4" deep thin line body and weighing in at only 7lbs 8oz, this Supro has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 10-46 strings.The maple neck has a V shaped profile that feels very solid and substantial with generous shoulders, staying fairly consistent in depth as you move up the fretboard and featuring a slab rosewood fretboard. The original frets are intact and virtually flawless, with their full, original height. These frets are slender in width and play cleanly up the neck with no buzzing or dead spots. The truss rod nut is responsive, and the neck is very straight. At the nut, the guitar measures 1 11/16" in width, and with a scale length of 24 3/4", this guitar will feel intuitive and familiar to Gibson players in particular, as Gibsons traditionally share both of these measurements. The headstock features the original Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with white buttons, and the fragile "Supro" raised plastic logo is mint and intact on the large "gumby" headstock.On the body, the electronics work as they should, with the two oversized single coil pickups coupled to a three-way pickup selector switch and individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup. The original hardware is present as well, including the roller bridge which is mounted to the vibrato unit assembly, DeArmond white reflector cap knobs, raised white pickguard, and tall baton switch tip.Cosmetically, this guitar is in excellent shape, with a rich and unfaded deep red nitro lacquer finish on the body and a neck profile that is a slightly lighter shade of "tomato soup" red. The finish shows zero touchup or overspray, and the wear on the body is limited to a couple extremely faint scuffs and nicks as well as faint surface patina on the chrome vibrato cover. This is truly an "under the bed" find and one of the cleanest Supros we've ever encountered. This guitar will satisfy collectors and serious players alike, and has been setup to play its best.The original gray chipboard case is included.
