Music retirement means I have to sell one of my own horns - this is my "The Olds" cornet, serial number 6437, one of the last of this model, made about 1935, or 1939, depending on whose source you like. Pre-dating the Standard and Super models, this horn is a compact, medium-bore (.453) model with a little more open wrap than the Super cornets. I have owned this for almost twenty years and had it restored as soon as I bought it in an early eBay auction. It is as close to perfect as you'll find anywhere. No lacquer loss - I played it for three months altogether on a weekly gig and have kept it in its case all this time, and it has the clear sweet sound and smooth response that you look for when playing standards, yet you can bend it and push it pretty hard if you want. Valves show no wear - I did not have them replated. Slides are free and smooth. I use the first valve ring to keep the C# and D in tune, and the second “piano” tuning slide is the better one to use for fixed tuning, keeping the main slide closed so your left thumb doesn't keep changing the pitch adjustment. Just a beautiful Olds cornet - never been abused, only a tiny dimple at the end of the third slide where someone dropped it once. Buy American! I will ship this horn with a repro Muck 19C cushion rim mouthpiece and the strange original case. Shipping weight will be about 15 pounds. I'll ship by UPS in the US and can combine items for shipping. Paypal is OK if you must reward eBay even more. Questions and comments from knowledgeable ebayers are welcome and they may be added to this description as I receive them. I will ship worldwide wherever shipping insurance can be obtained. Overseas bidders may incur an additional handling charge of 5%. Sorry - I will not ship to Italy because of Italian postal insurance difficulties. My return policy: if you are unsatisfied for any reason, I will refund your purchase price less two-way shipping so long as you return the item within seven days after receipt. No rebates or approvals, please. I have sold and shipped high-end eBay items worldwide for 19 years.
