1995 Gibson Les Paul SG '61 Reissue – EX++ Condition – OHSC – 7 lbs., 5.3 oz.

When I decided I wanted to own a Gibson SG in the mid ‘90’s I quickly settled on the best model available – the Les Paul SG ’61 Reissue. So I went looking and found three stores within about 50 miles that had one in stock. I went and played all three, paying particular attention to how they sounded unplugged. Of those three, this one shined and had significantly better sustain and overall balance. Plus it had by far the best wood grain – not just the body, but the grain in the rosewood fretboard is stunning. I bought it. Now it’s time to move on and you can own it. Here is the description from Gibson’s literature sheet of the time: With its sculpted red mahogany body and incredible playability, the classic ’61 Les Paul SG standard was the shape that launched a thousand riffs and is among the most respected electric guitars in the history of American music. Today’s SG ’61 Reissue presents one of Gibson’s all-time best-sellers but with a modern Tune-o-matic/Stop Bar Tailpiece configuration to enhance tuning stability and maximize sustain. The SG ’61 Reissue features the fastest neck shape ever designed, Gibson’s classic “slim taper”. Gibson’s distinctively contoured mahogany body is carefully carved for long-term comfort and upper register accessibility, while a pair of ’57 Classic Humbuckers give the SG Reissue a wide range of tonal colors: from pearly rhythm sounds and singing leads, to sweet, detailed clarity in the dual-pickup mode. This guitar would be Near Mint except for one small ding on the back bottom rear corner (see photo). The guitar is finished in Gibson’s classic Heritage Cherry and and comes with the Original Hard Shell Case.
