This is a Carlsbro Mantis analog delay unit from the 1970s. Inspired and informed by the multi-head disc delays like the Watkins Copicat and Binson Echorec, the Mantis uses a Philips bucket brigade to achieve a similar effect. It has 4 buttons which represent delay times ranging from short to long. Its "swell" section has another 4 buttons to determine number of repeats and its "swell" fader helps control (or lose control) of echo feedback. Additionally, the Mantis has a "Rotafaze" section to dial in some modulation, which, when used subtly, simulated the flutter and wow of old tape delays. This effect is one you really miss when it's not on! Input and output faders control volume on the way in and out - super useful for distorting the box or driving whatever device is downstream. In addition to its main output, it also has a 100% wet mix output, making it extremely useful as a studio effect. Delay times are never crazy long and its design is inherently slightly noisey, but this is easily one of the coolest and best sounding delays we have ever heard. It has also been converted from 220 to 110VAC for easy use without a transformer in the U.S. and elsewhere using a standard IEC power cable. It is in good condition, cosmetically and functionally, but is missing its fader caps. Extremely rare and unique! Be sure to check out our SoundCloud demo below! For real: this thing sounds great. Please feel free to ask any questions or call us for an in-hand description.DIVISION STREET GUITARS914-737-2630
