Up for auction is an 1867 violin, made in Mittenwald, Germany by the respected maker Franz Simon.  The label is intact.  It has been skillfully restored with a new neck, fingerboard, and bass bar.   The back has no cracks.  The top has a few cracks that have been recently cleaned and closed.  The ribs have multiple cracks, but have been recently doubled and are good for another 150 yrs.  Most of the original varnish is intact.  The body is 13 7/8" long, slightly shorter than the standard 14".  The instrument shows normal wear for a violin of its age. It is set up with ebony fittings, a new bridge, soundpost, and Eva Pirazzi strings. It is appraised at $5000.00  It comes with a certificate of authenticity.  For tax purposes I need to reduce inventory.  I have been a violin maker for 35 years,   Bid with confidence.  If you are unsatisfied, you can return the instrument for a full refund less shipping..  It comes with a used case, no bow.  I will discussing shipping options after purchase, I usually ship UPS ground..
