1978 Gibson L-5S L5S vintage electric guitar STUNNING 2 piece FLAME TOP PROJECT

Up for a no reserve auction is a guitar that absolutely breaks my heart to see, as anybody who knows me, knows I have had well over 50 of these guitars and love them!!!! This 1978 Gibson L-5S guitar was made using some ofthe finest eastern flame maple I have ever seen a vintage Kalamazoo made Gibson EVER, and with a rare 2 piece top and back that you do not see very much. Unfortunately this guitar suffered a catastrophic neck break ages ago (not by me!!!). The original vintage tobacco or fireburst finish (this one is kind of a mix of both as I have had these in every conceivable color), is actually pretty nice on the body, though there are some small dings here and there and 2 bigger ones on the back, one on the body, and one on the control cover, but man that flamed out top (and back!) is so strong from edge to edge at any angle, when looking at the finish with light reflecting on it it has that ripple effect. The guitar still retains its original electronics, with all pots dated to the 41st week of 1978, the original reflector knobs that are the same as what Gibson used on their guitars from the 60s, and blacklight as they should, original switch tip, original gold plated tar back super humbuckers, original studs for the bridge and tailpiece. So whats missing is obviously the fingerboard from the 4th fret up, much of the neck and headstock and tuners. The trussrod is still at full length. The pickup bezels were all destroyed and when trying to unscrew them, all 8 little screws broke off flush at the body, as did 2 of the control cover screws. The electronics function PERFECTLY as do the pickups. I weighed this guitar with a set of tuners, heavy bridge and a heavy tailpiece and a hunk of wood about the size of what is missing from the neck, and it came in at 9.2-9.3 lbs, which makes this a light one which light weight versions always sound great, and you can feel that it will be a killer guitar when repaired when just holding it, as these always sound great as long as they done get in the high 9s and over mark, then they start to sound very brittle and thin, and even more so the heavier they get. These guitars with a 2 piece top and back with this much flame in nice condition easily bring 7K ( I know I have sold them for up to 10K), so this is a super worthwhile project, and probably should be sent back to Gibson to get re-necked. If you have a L5S with a badly damaged body, this will most likely be your only chance to fix it!!! Sorry, no case, and what you see in the pics is what you get. There is a chance that the rest of the neck may show up at the estate I got this out of, if it happens before it sells, I will revise it, or possible just keep it and fix it, if not it is what it is. Do not ask me to part this out as if it does not sell, I am very inclined to send it off to Gibson or hold on to it until I find a suitable replacement neck! SO IF ANYONE HAS A NOS OR GOOD USED GIBSON L5S NECK< I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN BUYING IT!!!!! Please look at all the pics and ask any questions you may have.
