Made in Japan and introduced in 1988, the Strat XII had most customary Stratocaster features and design elements, with the additions of a special 12-saddle bridge and a large headstock with a brand-new shape to accommodate six tuners on each side. Surprisingly durable for such a specialized instrument, the 22-fret Strat XII remained in the lineup for nearly a decade; it was discontinued in 1997. It was resurrected a few years later as the 21-fret Classic series Stratocaster XII 12-String (2003-2004), which then moved to the Special Edition series until being discontinued in 2010.  It seems to have been made in relatively small numbers during its production period, which seems to make it somewhat collectible!Alder bodyMaple neck Rosewood fingerboardThree Vintage Style Single-Coil Pickups6-saddle hardtail bridge* (6 Through body & 6 front) (*see note below)Gotoh chrome tuners3 Plastic Knob Controls: 1 Volume & 2 Tone controls for the middle and neck pickupsRecessed jack socket4-way SwitchLake Placid Blue Color3-ply Pickguard* Note About the bridge - it is worth noting that it has six saddles instead that the twelve ones which it was said to feature when in production (2005-2009). The confusion may have originated in a first run of Strat XIIs made between 1985 and 1996 that were equipped with a twelve saddle bridge and a short-scale neck with 22 frets. This guitar has a special type of saddles designed to allow six of the strings be strung through the body while the other six are strung from the front.   See all pictures for what you will receive!
