If you like super clean gear and take really good care of your guitars and amps, then this is the Marshall for you. So many people have the plexi reissues modified to sound like a JCM 800, but here's a JCM 800 that looks like a plexi. My lousy photos simply don't do it justice, it's that pretty.
This is a mint Marshall 50 watt amp built august 3rd 1985 according to the sticker on the chassis, and is, as they say, "stock as a rock", in a custom Plexi style cabinet by Mojotone, small gold frosted logo and gold piping. Everything fits perfectly and looks uber classy. It was so well kept by the previous owner I felt guilty replacing the cabinet but I wanted it to match my Zakk Wilde 4x12; they look so sweet together. The control panels are totally clean, no scratches, dirt, cracked knobs or horrible felt tip pen marks (I hate that), typical of used '80's heads; There is however a tiny - tiny - bit of scratchiness in the "Preamp Volume" and "Midrange" pots. Brand new power tubes (phase inverter tube as well) Electro Harmonix KT90 power tubes. No modifications necessary, as they are in the 6550/KT88 family. Just a routine re-bias. The effect is sort of like playing a 100 watter with EL34 tubes. Big, articulate, and with a very sweet voicing. Last but not least is a very nice slip cover, hand made by a fellow eBay seller (if I could remember who I'd recommend them here for all covers) It's heavy duty pleather with heavy but soft lining (see pics) and expertly sewn.
If you buy it, you will love it and play it all the time.Note: Power tubes will ship separately.
