Superb digital preamplifier, equalizer, volume controller. All operations are done in the digital domain with 40-bit floating point math and dithered outputs so there are no losses either from digital processing or from analog circuitry. Insert between your digital sources and your D/A converter. Replaces the traditional analog preamp. Use of the RDP-1s digital volume control eliminates the "intersample clipping/over" distortion common with 44.1/16 bit CD format files. The RDP-1 is extremely well made and easy to use either from the front panel controls or the remote control unit. Original box and manual.Note: The optical inputs/outputs are ST optical and not TOSLINK. However, there are plenty of coax/XLR inputs/outputs and inexpensive adapters are available to convert TOSLINK to coax or XLR formats. Z-Systems can also swap out the ST optical for TOSLINK if desired (for an additional fee). Specs:• Inputs: 2 AES/EBU (transformer-isolated, 110-ohm terminated), 3 S/PDIF (transformer- isolated, 75-ohm terminated), 1 optical (TOSLINK or ST-type glass fiber available).• Outputs: 1 AES/EBU, 1 S/PDIF, 1 optical• Input/output precision: up to 24-bits• Gain control: from -95 dB to +12 dB• Gain resolution: 0.2 dB increments from +12 dB to -12 dB, 1 dB increments from -12 dB to-20 dB, 2 dB increments from -20 dB to -50 dB, 3 dB increments from -50 dB to -70 dB, 5 dBincrements from -70 dB to -95 dB• Filter types: 4 parametric, 2 shelving• Center frequency resolution: 1/6-th octave ISO from 28 Hz to 18 kHz• Filter gain/cut: from -95 dB to +12.0 dB• Filter bandwidths: 12 steps from Q = 0.4 to Q = 8.0 (nominal)• Shelf filter slopes: 6 dB/octave• Dither types: 20-bit and 16-bit proprietary floating-point techniques• Digital filter architecture: proprietary minimum roundoff-noise structure• Dynamic range: better than 144 dB• THD+N: better than -135 dB• Processor type: TMS320C31 32-bit floating-point DSP• Processor performance: 60 MFLOPS• Digital audio demodulator/modulator: Crystal Semiconductor CS8412/CS8402• Digital audio signal transformers: Scientific Conversions SC916-01, SC944-05• Sample rates supported: 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz. 88.2 kHz/96 kHz upgrade availablefrom factory• Auxiliary-bit status handling: unit is transparent to channel status, validity, and auxiliarybits• Stereo-linked and dual-mono operation• Number of presets: 99• Power supply: 110/220VAC, 50/60Hz
