Up for sale, an early 2000s Guild D-40 in excellent condition, with an authoritative and powerful tone. This guitar was built briefly after Fender's acquisition of the Guild company, and based on the limited information available on this transition era, the Corona Guilds consisted of complete kits that were manufactured at the old Westerly factory and assembled in Corona, CA! Very few D-40s were produced in this "blink and you'll miss it" Guild era, and the quality is excellent, befitting Guild's reputation for creating very well braced and roadworthy guitars with a robust and dynamic tone!Guild has been building dreadnought acoustic guitars since 1963, and their instruments are revered for their value, reliability, tone, responsiveness, outstanding projection, and sustain. The Guild D-40 dreadnought has a full-bodied, high volume body style that was developed with an emphasis on string-to-string balance, so that treble, mid, and bass registers project evenly. The result is an incredibly musical and versatile dreadnought. The acoustic guitar's top is solid spruce, offering full balance and projection. The solid mahogany back and sides bring out rich tone, and complement the projection of the spruce top. The Indian rosewood bridge and fretboard produce lasting sustain and tonal clarity. The one-piece mahogany neck has a fairly slender C profile, with frets that show virtually no wear and play comfortably up the neck. The headstock has original Grover Rotomatic tuning machines as well as the "Fender" logo on the back. The Guild label is clearly seen through the soundhole, and the serial number appears to be blacked out from the factory, perhaps in an attempt to not overlap serial number sequences between Westerly and Corona. The guitar also boasts an internal active pickup with endpin 1/4" jack. This pickup (likely Fishman manufactured) is the typical piezo style beneath the bridge, and does a good job of further amplifying the instrument in situations where purely acoustic tones aren't enough!Cosmetically, this guitar is immaculate, with virtually no wear on the spruce top and only faint scuff or two on the back. The internal braces are in great shape and the guitar has no structural wear of any kind. The saddle has plenty of height left for future adjustment as well, and the Indian rosewood bridge sits flush with the top.The original hardshell case is included.
