I know very little about this instrument other than it's a secondhand, unplated raw brass sousaphone complete with its hard case & I'm told it's Bb. I can find no makers mark on it whatsoever although the cranked brace between the body & the neck look exactly like sousaphones made by the American company King as does it's main tubing which does not double back on itself at the top but instead goes around in a full circle just like King. And it does have the American style side facing valves too. All the slides come out, I can see no corrosion anywhere, the valves & the waterkey all look good & there's no stripped threads nor missing bell receiver thumbscrews - all 3 are there & fine & like some of the other fittings are nickel plated I think. And amazingly the whole sousaphone has no dents but for a couple of really really minor ones - see the pictures but very hard to see. It's not one of those lightweight Chinese jobbies - there's real weight to it & the bell diameter is 24 inches (610mm). The mouthpipe is well engineering & adjusts to all angles & heights & even the length can be adjusted but there's no mouthpiece I'm afraid. The raw brass has its natural matt finish although the bell looks a bit shinier & I guess the whole tuba could gleam with some elbow grease. The case is pretty good - showing signs of a repair or two & wear here & there mainly to the inner yellow flock lining but is perfectly usable although one of the three catches is broken & could do with replacing to hold the lid tight. As it's unbranded I have priced it accordingly - even some empty sousaphone cases sell for more......BUY IT NOW for £440Despite staying that I'll post it, I feel it really cannot safely be despatched by a Courier - even in its case it will get damaged if it's thrown about so I think you must either collect from near Brands Hatch (Kent) or I might be able to deliver it personally for £1.25 per mile - one way charge - for example if my SatNav says you're 40 miles from me then it's £1.25 x 40 = £50 to deliver.
