Description Brand: Gretsch Series: Anniversary Model: 6125 Exact Year: 1961 Body Type: Single cut, hollow body archtop Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
This rare 1961 Gretsch Anniversary is a truly wonderful piece of craftsmanship, and an essential addition to any guitar collector or enthusiast. Originally purchased at a garage sale in Minnesota, it has been well taken care of for the past ten years. It is a difficult item to let go of, but after having not played it for a year, I came to the decision that I own enough guitars, and maybe it's time for someone else to really play and love it. As you can see from the pictures, it's got some expected wear and tear: the paint on the back of the neck worn off where so hands have moved across the fret board, a minor crack around one screw on the pick guard, and various superficial smudges on the body. All in all, this guitar is in pretty damn good shape considering it's been played since 1961. The serial number, 39269, is what confirms it's creation circa 1961. The guitar is crafted with maple wood. The single pickup has three tone settings which can be toggled through using the switch above the neck/ body conjunction along with a single knob, for volume. The "Roller" bridge is customizable and free floating, allowing you to adjust action and position for perfect feel and intonation. This Anniversary features the addition of a leather belt-buckle guard on the backside of the body, which attaches and detaches via metal buttons. The Gretsch Anniversary is a testament to simplicity and style, and it sounds wonderful. For that smooth but defined Chet Atkins tone, this guitar was designed to get it. But its not a one trick pony, Martin Gore of Depeche Mode played the dual-pickup version of this Gretsch. Before making this listing I put new strings and and gave it a thorough cleaning, and it's ready for a trip to you. I'm in San Diego and will ship anywhere in the US. Cost of shipping will be added to total cost and will vary depending on where the guitar is shipped.
