Precious few mic preamps out there that can say "Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Led Zeppelin and The Eagles were all recorded through these transformers." These are rare vintage and iconic Universal Audio 1108 Mic Preamps from the early Universal Audio console at the legendary Sunset Sound studios, re-packaged by Brent Averill/Avedis in 2 channel format. I am the original owner, bought them from Brent Averill over 10 years ago - he of course only had so many, and they sold out fast once people understood the origins. These 1108 preamps were removed when Sunset Sound went to an API format for the studio, and sat around for years until BAE repackaged them in this convenient single rack 2 channel module. This unit comes with its own power supply. This is a known though extremely limited product, and there is quite a lot of nformation on the Van Halen connection out on the web. These preamps are clear, dynamic, present, and punchy, as one might expect listening to some of those old albums from the 1960s through into the 1980s that were recorded with them.By the way, though known for Van Halen, the Universal Audio Console and these mic preamps at Sunset dates to the 1960s and recorded many well known records.
