Alright, here's a cool guitar: The original Bozeman J-200 Prototype from 1989!
Technically, this guitar was completed before the Bozeman factory was even finished (factory was completed in March of 1989 with production beginning in June of that year). The guitar was built by Ren Ferguson as a showpiece for NAMM, making this also the first Gibson guitar ever built by Ren Ferguson. I don't have to tell you much about Ren's reputation as a luthier with Gibson. Lloyd Loar is the only luthier with a higher regard than Ren. Ren's guitars will be highly sought after just as Loar's mandolin's are now. What an opportunity to own the first of his Gibson guitars!
The guitar features flamed maple back and sides with a Sitka spruce top. Rosewood fretboard and bridge. When viewed up close, the finer features of this guitar differ just slightly from what you would see on a typical Bozeman J-200 (the bridge, headstock, back marquetry, etc.). That's because the guitar was built by hand before any of the machines were up and running in the factory. Just take a look at the marquetry center strip on the back. Super detailed!Included with the guitar is a letter from Stan Jay (of Mandolin Bros), the original dealer of the guitar. Also included is the original warranty paperwork from Gibson. The original hardshell case will also be included.Feel free to call me with any questions: 435.406.9281
