UPRIGHT PIANO - DALE, FORTY, major parts re-built/restored
Estimated price for orientation: 1 750 $
Category: Upright Pianos
Class:
Description Brand: DALE, FORTY Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom Number of Keys: 61 MPN: Serial No. 38439 Number of Pedals: 2
This particular piano which I am selling is quite a unique piano as it is solid wood, probably oak, as opposed to the often composite woods overlaid with various veneer finishes, as used to make the casework of pianos for well over 100 years. The very attractive barley twist legs and case details give this piano even more added character. Re-built/restored in the late 1990’s (finished in 1999) with the main internal mechanics replaced or restored and the outside casework stripped and refinished. It is a very powerful piano for its size and will outplay, for fullness of sound, much larger pianos and even some petite Baby Grands. Everyone who plays it is amazed at the sound performance from this mighty little piano! For the technical amongst you, this is a straight strung overdamper action. Finest quality new strings, tuning pins, hammer head felts and new damper heads and damper felts were fitted during the re-build. New one piece key tops have been fitted as the originals were missing or very badly damaged. There are 61 keys but don’t be put off by this as you can still play a great many pieces of all types of music. Being sold now after considerable soul searching, as whilst it has been played and tuned, it is taking up too much room in our ‘downsized family home’, as apart from other musical instruments we have four upright pianos, a grand piano and a harmonium! A good amount of money was spent on this restoration and whilst I appreciate that the market is full of pianos, particularly upright pianos for sale these days which has considerably depressed the prices, this piano stands out from the crowd. If, in today’s modern home, you are tight for space, this is the chance to own a period piece which is also a really wonderful instrument since the restoration has been completed, plus being a very nice piece of furniture. You are very welcome, as a serious prospective purchaser to visit to view and play this piano. Delivery to all parts of the UK can be arranged. All transport costs are that of the purchaser.
