This vintage 1966 Yamaha SA-15 was in pretty rough shape when we found it but with a bit of TLC really came back to life. The neck pocket had cracked, possibly from a fall (also cracked the nut (pic #12), so we re-built it with epoxy and carbon fiber, added a shim, and the neck set is now excellent. The pick guard had some cracked corners so we laminated some thin plexi underneath and it's now solid. The electronics are all original and have been cleaned so everything is functional and quiet. The single coil pickups read around 7K and the guitar has great tone and sustain. The truss rod is functional, the frets are in great shape, and the action and intonation are excellent. The original tuners work as they should. The body is maple laminate and the neck solid mahogany. This is an early example of the Super Axe series and these were not widely distributed in the US. This one came back from Japan with a serviceman in the late 60's. The finish is in good condition overall but there are some bumps and scratches and one prominent mar on the lower bout (pic #10). The Bigsby style trem works great and the guitar returns to pitch quite well. The instrument is light, around 6 lbs., but well balanced and a lot of fun to play. Just the thing for that surf rock set. Ships in a new gig bag. Thanks for looking.ps: Free domestic shipping = a 20% discount on international shipping and is only offered at the listed price.
