Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard stamped 8th November 1965 which is straight as a die and frets are excellent.
24 inch scale with 22 frets and a B neck width
Two single coil pups with grey bobbins marked January 1965
Stackpole potentiometers, original and dated 42nd week of 1965
F-Key tuners with white plastic squared side knobs
F series neck plate with serial number 108356 (Fullerton 1965)
White dot markers
Original Brass shielding plate in the pickup, slider switch, and control cavity
Two slider switch ON-OFF-PHASE for each of the two pickups
12 screw pickguard
3 screw control plate
Dynamic Fender Vibrato Original Nitrocellulose Dakota Red over White. It was common due to the lower cost to overspray a white base coat to cover the wood with the end colour in this instance Red, but what we have here is an already White sprayed body then sprayed Dakota Red. The nitro finish on the neck and body is beautifully checked/crazed. Fender sold to CBS in 1965, but no major changes were made until ’66, which means this 1965 guitar was built by the same luthiers using the same tools and the same wood and paint as they would have pre CBS. In fact the pick ups are marked the 3rd January which is the very day itself that the take over was officially made.The guitar is a joy to play, the action is amazing, with no buzzing or choking anywhere, really is a players guitar. Couple of minor points, headstock has a small hole where an additional string tree was fitted, but it's since been removed and back to stock, and the tremolo arm is missing, but allparts sell the correct arm for this '65 for less than a tenner.
