Please read full description --This is a Holton Elkhorn professional C-melody saxophone saxophone made around 1922. This saxophone was made by the Holton band instrument company. The Holton Elkhorn was a close competitor to the Conn New Wonder Series 1 and 2 and the Buescher True Tone. What sets this horn apart from all the others is the Mother of Pearl coating on the entire thing to prevent silver-plating wear, the high D trill key on the right hand of which I've never seen on any other horn, and the unique G# trill key design. This horn plays 100% from top to bottom with ease. Two pads have been replaced, and the rest of the pads vary, but all have much life left and have been checked with a leak light to be 100% leak-free. There are new adjustment materials throughout the horn, and the neck cork is recent. All key felts are present and all springs are present and have been checked for proper tensions. The horn and the case do not smell bad at all like many vintage saxophone do. This horn comes with its original vintage black leather hardwood case of which is in very good shape inside and out and fully physically functional and it works wellThe silver plating is 100% intact except one spot under the right thumb hook. The reason for that is because the silver plating is coated in mother of pearl on the body and the keys. The mother of pearl is very good aside from one spot on the bell where it is absent and the most of the keys are flaking. I believe the the bell is 'gold washed' meaning there is a layer of gold plating on the inside of the bell. There are no dents anywhere on the horn but there are only a couple small pen sized (and smaller) dings on the saxophone. The neckplug, neck, and the case are all original. The neck doesn't have any pull down to the best of my knowledge. All keys and pearl inlays are original and intact. This horn was quite fun to own because of its rich, lush, sweet but powerful and projecting tone. This would make a great horn for any sax player looking for a solid vintage horn especially a C melody in ready-to-play condition, or a good one to add to a vintage sax collection. I do also play saxophone so I will try to answer any question you have. Free Shipping! Free Returns! Thanks for looking!
