Description
the binding and the rectangular kerfing pretty much determine this is an Oscar Schmidt. it was sold as a Hawaiian guitar with a high nut and saddle. the neck was loose when i got it. you can see the evidence where someone attached a piece of metal to the heel and back with 2 screws to hold it in place. at any rate, with a neck set it now has very low action and saddle to get it even lower, altho i think it would buzz if it was any lower. it has no fretwear since it had never been played Spanish style before. the neck has just a slight relief and has a c profile. the bridge is original altho at first glance it's oversize. i'm sure it was larger due to the Hawaiian deal. it is of course ladder braced. it's a little wider than 13 inches and the scale is about 25 inches. the top, side and neck appear to be crack free. the back has a couple of long cracks that are solid. the wood may be mahogany or perhaps birch on the sides and back. the top is adirondack spruce. the tuners are original and work fine. it comes with a decent chipboard case. it has a very nice tone and couldn't play any easier. this is being sold AS IS due to age and repairs. i don't think it needs anything else repaired, but you may think otherwise. so, look at the pics carefully, ask any questions and don't bid if any doubts. Continental US only. thanks.
