Regal Fancy Parlor Guitar - Vintage
Estimated price for orientation: 695 $
Category: Other Vintage String
Class:
Description Brand: Regal Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Model: Parlor
This instrument was built by Regal in Chicago in the late 1920's to mid 1930's time frame. There is no serial number to confirm the actual date. The top is solid spruce and the back and sides are either mahogany or birch. Regal was known for creating a faux rosewood look for some of their instruments. This model features a beautiful stenciled floral decoration on top, decorated pearloid pickguard, bound white pearloid fingerboard and slotted headstock. The binding edges and the sound hole are also finely decorated. As far as I can see, this guitar is all original. As an 80 + year old instrument, it shows the usual blemishes, scratches dings but is in remarkably good condition. There are two repaired and cracks on top (1" and 2") and a 4" repaired crack on the back. All are stable and do not affect tone or playability. It also appears that at some point the back (not the neck) was oversprayed or stained. There is also a darker section on the front below the bridge where the same thing happened. I've tried to show all this in the pictures. The action at the 12th fret is 8/64ths. It has a full bright tone and sounds great with a slide in open tuning. Additional pictures are available upon request.
