CHEAPER THAN THE USA! How you ask? Grab a calculator (your smart phone has one) and let's find an Ebay USA Gibson listing for the same model - we found one for USD$799 - sounds cheap right? wrong! Let's go . . .
1) The current exchange rate is 77 cents. You will be lucky to get 74 cents from any bank. That equals AUD$1079.
2) Let's add some freight. The same site offers USD$89 - that equals AUD$120
3) You would be stone crazy if you didn't insure your guitar so let's say USD$35 - that equals AUD$47
4) Once your guitar arrives you have to pay 5% duty...so far we have AUD$1246 - add 5% equals AUD$1308
5) On top of that you have to add GST - now we are up to AUD$1438.80!! and guess what...
o No Australian Warranty
o Any Problems and you have to ship it back to the USA which will cost you at least AUD$300 (get a quote)
o If yu want a southcoastmusic PRO-SCM setup it'll cost you at least $120!
So...think about it...even if you don't buy your Gibson from SCM, buy it from an authorised Dealer in Australia - that way, everybody wins.
