Up for sale is a really cool piece of Ovation history as well as an incredible guitar. This is the Deacon, the dolled up version of the Breadwinner. The Deacon was differentiated by a gloss finish, mother of pearl diamond shaped fretboard marker inlays, and an ivory binding on the edge of the fretboard as well as much nicer hardware including what appear to be brass saddles.These guitars originally came with active electronics, but due to the design of the circuit inside and certain components, once the internal transformer dies, the whole set up is toast unless you, or someone you know, is a master in electronics and can hand wind thousands of winds accurate down to single digits to make your own transformer. That is what happened to this guitar, the part died, and the internal circuitry was removed. The guitar is now wired as passive and if you refer to the 8th photograph you can see the switches which are now set up in this configuration from left to right.
3 Way Pickup Selector <--Bridge ^Parallel -->Neck

Bridge Pickup Tap: <--Single Coil -->Humbucker
Kill Switch: <--Off -->OnThis setup gives you such a huge variety of tone and playability that the tone options are kind of endless. The tone on this guitar is incredible and it also feels great in the hands. The neck has a great profile similar to a Gibson Les Paul or SG. It's not too heavy, especially for being a pretty big hunk of wood and the strange contours actually make playing while sitting down or standing very comfortable. The guitar was just professionally set up by the local luthier with 9.5 strings.This guitar shows obvious signs of age and use such as marks, knicks, chips, scratches, etc. but is in great playing shape. The previous, and if I recall correctly, original owner added what appears to be a strap button on the bottom of the guitar, why? I do not know, but I left it there for the next buyer to use or dispose of as they please. A piece of the binding on the top of the fret board if you were sitting playing the guitar did fall out but has been glued back in and the seams can be seen in the photograph. The other side (bottom) is good all the way down to the base of the neck where some glue residue can be seen from where the binding had started to peel back.Please refer to the photographs and send me any questions you may have before putting in an offer so you know exactly what you will receiving. I am happy to answer any questions and send any more photographs you may need.This guitar is being sold as is, as described and photographed. No refunds, returns, exchanges, etc. The guitar will be fully insured and shipped via Fedex Ground. If I can find a gig bag that its it, I will include it, but as of now this listing is for the guitar only.Thanks for looking.
