Description
Brand: Gtetsch

The bass drum is a genuine Model 4244 18x14 bass drum . The serial number on the tag is 07917 The mounted tom is a Model 4416 9x13 tom.  The serial number on the tag is 07807, indicating it was made at roughly the same time as the bass drum The floor tom does not have a tag. The Champagne Sparkle Finish is original as best as I can tell.  The finish comes just up to the shell bearing edges and the finish edges have the feathering as on all of my Gretsch drums, The finish edges also have the darkened aging common to Gretsch sparkle finishes. The shells are round, the bearing edges are in excellent condition, and the tell-tale silver paint along the bearing edges indicates they have not been modified since they left the factory The only modifications to the bass drum are 8 small bolt holes that were used to fasten the thin aluminum strips a previous owner installed over the two finish seams (4 bolts per seam).  The strips were roughtly 1/4 inshes wide, and ran from hoop-to-hoop, with curved surfaces to conform to the curvature of the shell. A previous owner did install a vertical cymbsal holder through the badge hole on the bass drum, but did not need to enlarge the hole or damage the badge.  I removed the holder when I purchased the set, and the only sign of its existence is the outline of a large washer in the interior of the drum below the badge. I will gladly provide photos documenting these answers and to additional questionas you would like answered! All the Best.
On Feb-28-17 at 13:07:07 PST, seller added the following information: Many of you have presented me with some additional excellent questions: please keep them coming in your messages and e-mails! I do have the bass drum's original batter side hoop with the sparkle inlay:  the auction does include that hoop.  I'll gladly provide a photo of the original hoop now adorning the bass drum as the front hoop! The Champagne Sparkle Finish is identical on all three drums.  Some folks have asked whether I can provide additional evidence that the finish is original.  One piece of evidence is the lack of any indication the badges have been removed from the mounted tom or from the floor tom; removal would have been necessary to re-wrap the shells.  When attaching badges during production, Gretsch always bent the badge tacks over and pressed them into the interiors of the shells to secure them into place.  Prying the tacks away from the shell would have been necesary to subsequently remove them, and this would invariably have left tell-tale marring or scratching of the shell.  Closeup photos reveal none of this has occurred.    I will gladly provide those photos. All the Best.
