1979 GIBSON SUPER V single cutaway arch top with floating BJB pickup in MINT condition. Comes with original Gibson hard shell case as well as Gibson zipper case cover. Original product run was only from 1979-83, this is one of only 43 shipped in 1979. A pristine example of the Super V, (a cross between a Super 400 neck with longer peg head and a 17" L5 body size ), it has a solid bone nut width of slightly under 1 11/16 inches and a standard L5 scale length of 25 1/2 inches. This guitar features parallel bracing, is carved of highly figured book matched maple with maple rims, a solid quartersawn Sitka spruce soundboard of exceptionally fine grain, a bound, five-piece rock maple neck, ebony fret board with 20 jumbo frets and inlaid pearl split-block position markers. The headstock has a special Super V engraved brass truss rod cover, inlaid pearl "Gibson" logo and pearl five-piece split diamond inlay,as well as pearl inlay on the back of the headstock. Tuners are Kluson Sealfast with tulip-shaped metal buttons. The powerful floating BJB(Bruce J. Bolan) pickup registers at 15.71k. The pickguard is tortoiseshell with five-layer plastic binding (white/black/white/black/white). Two Johnny Smith type black plastic knobs (one volume, one tone) are mounted on pickguard with the input jack underneath. It features an ebony bridge with "Dragonfly" mother-of-pearl inlays and adjustable finger tailpiece which allows guitarists to adjust the down pressure on the bridge for each individual string ensuring pure acoustic sonority and constant tension no matter what gauge of strings are chosen . All hardware is gold-plated. The instrument is free of cracks, pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. Action is smooth and low; neck is a medium D profile. Everything on the guitar is original with no repair work of any kind.
