Description
Up for sale is my 1969 Fender Jazz bass in glorious Lake Placid Blue. This bass is awesome and I really don’t want to get rid of it, but unfortunately, I need the cash right now.I’ll go through each part of the bass:Headstock is original paint, matching LPB w/ the body and looks great. The only issue is the small hole where there was once another string tree. Not sure why someone would have done that, but it’s just cosmetic. One screw on the D tuner is not original. The neck is straight and plays like butter. No dead spots and it frets all of the way up. The back of the neck is ever so slightly worn and just makes for fast playing. When I received the bass, it had a nasty refret job, where someone had unfortunately cut through the binding. I immediately took it to the amazing Phil Jacoby, luthier-extraordinaire and had him put new frets in an attempt to fix the binding. As you can see, the fret wire is still visible through the binding, however, it is completely smooth and doesn’t affect playing at all. He did a tremendous job on the refret and can’t say enough amazing things about him. Anyhow, the neck plays very well and intonates great. Phil also installed a bone nut.The body has the original LPB paint job and has been very worn over the years, almost showing as a green these days (you can still see the blue under the pickguard). I also love how you can see the white Fullerplast coat under the LPB in spots. The pickups are Lindy Fralin jazz pickups and sound fantastic. When I received the bass, it was fitted with Bartolini’s and I wasn’t very fond of their sound. The Lindy’s are very close to the sound of an original vintage jazz. The pots are original. The bottom strap button is non-original, but from an older style guitar. It works fine, so I never saw the need to replace it. I do NOT have the pickup covers or the thumb rest. I also do NOT have the original case. It will be shipped in a newer Roadrunner hard shell case (pictured). The photos of this bass really don’t do it justice. It is jaw-droppingly beautiful and I get comments on it at every gig. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to own this baby. The bass is light as a feather, weighing in at 8.5 pounds. Nut width is typical ‘A’ neck… 1.5” at nut.I guess that’s it… please feel free to ask any questions. Please contact me for shipping rates outside of US. Free shipping in the lower 48. Will ship international but please contact me for shipping rates first.
