This Rubab is just a touch under concert size and is the largest size below concert size. I have played a lot on this one for several years but have got a couple of concert rubab that I play only now so I do not play this one so much anymore.
This full size and full finger board decoration is getting much harder to find these days. The mulberry wood used on this piece is extremely hard and dense, making for superior resonance.
The sympathetic string put on are quite thin and some of them pop and sizzle or buzz (jawari) like on and Indian sitar. Personally I like this jawari effect. But if it is not to your taste, then you can easily change the sympathetic strings to a thicker wire to your taste.
There are a few cracks near the saddle from the original construction and a couple of patches on the underside where there may have been a "bad" spot of wood. This is quite common on rubab and has absolutely no effect on sound or performance. See photos.The dimensions are.....length..36.5"
