Up for sale is my 1968 (circa) Vox Cheetah electric guitar in Sunburst finish. These guitars are rare to market in general, and this one is in top vintage condition. The only thing I can list wrong is that the original celluloid pick guard has shriveled, cracked, and warped to the point of uselessness, so I removed it from the guitar. There are aftermarket replacements available.Description of condition -
- Overall deep finish checking typical to 60's Vox's due to the heavy coating of lacquer on these guitars. There are no cracks in the guitar.
- Arrow straight neck with very low, very good action. Neck radius is very comfortable on these guitars. I like them better than the Gibson 330/335's they were made to compete with.
- All electronics work. Distortion, repeater, E-tuner...all functioning properly.
- Back pad in excellent condition.
- Case in good condition. Case is original Vox rectangular style (not hourglass style - both were correct to the guitar). There are wear marks on the edges.
- Original pickguard warped, broken, and removed (except for one tiny piece up by the neck). I left all the original hardware for the pick guard on the guitar. I only use it in the studio these days, and it doesn't get in the way. New owner can play it like this, or if you're worried about scratching the body, can buy an aftermarket reproduction pick guard.Summary - I don't want to sell it, but I need to, so here it is. I know I'll likely never find one in this condition again. I've had LOTS of guitars over the years, and this one is one of my all time favourites. It's an old guitar with checking, and a few marks here and there, but it looks, sounds, and plays beautifully. Shipping/Pick-up -
