From my collection...A vega tenor Banjo rare examples of which which were made only for two years in 1922 and 1923!!! It is my beloved 20 fret short scale Vega tubaphone style M 20 fret tenor Banjo from 1922 with matching serial numbers of 49697 with the very rare 11 1/2 inch head. It is contained in its original pink lined hard case which is in good condition..These particular models with extended board and unusual 11 1/2 inch head with tubaphone tone ring were only made between 1922 and 1923 and are very hard to come by making them extremely collectable. This one originated in Germany and i have never seen another. Normal Vega tubaphone banjos have heads which are just under 11 or 12 inch dependant on the model
It is in nice condition for its year with only slight vintage signs of use and sounds pretty good too!It has been improved with the addition of modern geared tuners,a quality calf skin head and modern bridge.It has 16 frets to the tension hoop and 4 frets over the head. It has a long version kerschner tailpiece and vega stamped hot dog armrest.
It has an original close fit resonator with NO FLANGES which was a period upgrade option to a normally open backed banjo. This therefore means that it can be used with or without the resonator fitted.
All hardware is in good condition with complete original inlays to the neck.It has a straight neck and low action and is a delight to play.Please examine photos and ask necessary questions.A very nice collectible rare Banjo in its original pink lined case.A very rare Vega to enjoy.Regarding postage....if buying from outside Europe the cost will be dependant on location....ask for quote before buying please as I cannot manage to add this option to my listing
