Description Type: Acoustic Brand: Buck Owens Enterprises
This beautiful guitar was patterned after the highly collectible RWB Harmony acoustic guitar that Buck Owens played on Hee-Haw at the height of his career. This guitar was produced in accordance to the specifications of Buck Owens Enterprises in April of 2007. This beautiful commemorative guitar bears the Buck Owens signature and classic 3 star logo on the headstock. The gold tone pickguard states that this specific guitar was presented on April 14, 2007 to country and western legend Homer Joy as a gift from the Buck Owens Family. It reads as follows, "To Homer Joy Thanks for "Streets of Bakersfield" We're glad you never gave up!" -The Buck Owens Family. Owens recorded "Streets" back in the early seventies and enjoyed mild success with the song, only to rerecord the tune as a duet along with country mega-star Dwight Yoakam in 1988. The re-release shot up the Billboard country charts to NUMBER ONE (#1) where it stayed becoming one of the biggest country hits of that year. Streets of Bakersfield was Bucks last number one chart topper before his untimely death in 2006. This MUSEUM QUALITY guitar, serial #: 03072687 was produced in very limited numbers by Buck Owens Enterprises and was designed to feature the look of Buck's original Harmony classic 6-string with the playability of a finely tuned modern flattop. This lovely midsize player, comes decked out in patriotic red, white, and blue. It sounds and plays incredibly well while creating a stunning presence through its retro style, graphics, and detail. For any collector of country western guitars and/or memorabilia this instrument is a one of a kind, essential addition to their C&W quiver. The original concert hall Harmony version of this guitar, sold through Sears & Roebuck, sells for big money if it can be found in decent condition. This later version is far rarer because of its association with the Owens family and Homer Joy. Additionally, it plays better than the version that Buck commonly used on Hee-Haw, "picking and a grinnin" with his legendary side kick, Roy Clark. Owens pioneered what came to be called the Bakersfield sound along with his best friend Don Rich. A guitar just like this one is featured in the Buck Owens exhibit at the country music hall of fame in Nashville, Tennessee. This guitar is a must for anybody serious about playing and preserving the deep heritage of country western music established by Buck Owens, and his musical cohorts. Please allow my detailed photographs to serve as accurate description regarding condition and type of this beautiful guitar.
