Description
Vintage Yamaha SG-2 guitar
Built in 1967 by the Nippon Gakki Factory in JapanExcellent condition. All original electronics, tuners, tremolo, etc. One of the potential downsides of these guitars today is that they originally had very flat frets, to mimic the Mosrite frets that were the rage in Japan. Add 50 years years of playing wear, and most of the time these guitars are hard to play. This guitar has been expertly re-fretted, so it plays like a new guitar in that regard. It made a huge difference. The guitar has been completely cleaned/polished and set up, including re-packing the tremolo bearings with fresh grease after flushing out the 50 year old grease, clean and lube the volume/tone pots and switches, new springs under the pickups to make height adjustments easier than with the original worn out foam, and the refret as mentioned. It's currently set up with 11-50 DR Nickel strings. These guitars are very well built. This was designed to compete with the American counterparts from Fender and Mosrite. In many ways, these might be better. The single coil pickups are a little hotter, about 9.5k, and have a warm sparkly tone. None of the ice pick sound that single coils can be known for. The tremolo is the nicest trem I've ever used. Between the tremolo actually using bearings, and the roller saddles, it is just pure smoothness. 25.5" scale length with 22 frets, 7.25" radius. 1 5/8" nut width. Comes with a brand spankin' new hard case. It fits perfectly. UPS Ground Insured Shipping in the cont. US is FREE!
International shipping is thru Ebay's international shipping program
