It is engraved on the bell:"WILH.MÖNKEKÖLN"*The bore size is: 0.468 inch/ 11.88 mmThe bell size is: 31 cm/ 12.204 inch*Josef MönkeOne of the most popular name in Germany for the manufacture of brass instruments.In 1886 josef mönke (wilhelm 's father) becomes apprentice companion.He worked from 1900 for knoth, to dantzig, then for cw.moritz in berlin.Then- 1904- he worked for Max Enders, Mainz, successor to C.A. Müller (Maker of one of the first high F trumpets for the 2nd Brandenburg concert, J.S. Bach).In -1906 to 1911 he worked with Leopold August Schmidt, son of Friedrich Adolf Schmidt (1827 - 1893) Cologne, (trumpets and horns with a rotating valve of the "Cologne type").1911 - 1912 Instrument maker Fritz Werner, Wiesbaden (presumably where he met for the first time Vincent Schrottenbach, a trumpet virtuoso at that time, founder in 1918 of the famous Vincent Bach Corporation in New York, USA 1912 - 1921 Leopold August Schmidt, Cologne, (Josef Monke's last employer before he set up his own brass instrument making company in 1922).28th February 1922 "Josef Monke" brass instrument makers takes up production in Cologne. At that time Josef Monke was 40 years old with a wife and two childrenWilhelm and Liselotte Mönke.Wilhelm MönkeSince 1928 Wilhelm Mönke was the apprentices to his father.In 1937 he is admitted as Meister(master)and in 1945 he has created its own workshop for brass instruments in KÖLN.*This vintage French Horn -circa 1970-was overhauled and it is an excellent shape.It is in Brass Lacquer in a very good shape also.There is a little patch under a pipe.Tfinger keys are perfectly functionning.There is a screw system to block the rotors.There is a removable bell.There is a stopping key valve (you don't have to transpose the stopped notes.)
