Description

This is my last acoustic banjo ukulele sale from my quite large former ukulele collection.
This is a facsimile of a 1930's bottom tension Abbott Monarch Banjo Ukulele as used and made famous as the preferred instrument of George Formby. It is virtually as new with no damage or marks ready to play.It was made in 2014 by Eric BEHARREL in Yorkshire England. Serial number 15/2014.It has the word "Monarch" stamped on the back of the headstock. This is a surprisingly lightweight instrument made like the early Monarch's with bottom tensioning with a metal preformed body which like the originals is lined with a wooden rim insert to enhance the sound.
Having owned an original Abbott Monarch several years ago I can say that it's construction is very similar to the original version.
It has its original strings and original small low bridge and skin head giving low Formby style playing action. It is as pictured and contained in a slightly oversized newish case.It has virtually remained stored in its case since I purchased it new in 2014 .This Banjo Uke will give you an easily playable instrument with a  Formby sound, (my opinion only.)Get yourself a Monarch style instrument at a fraction of the cost of an original Abbott This instrument is as good as a new one at a much lower price. If you were contemplating a new one it's a real bargain buy! Please view the pictures so as to be sure of the instruments condition.I have noticed that there is a very feint join line visible on the resonator indicating that it was made in two halves which may or may not be a subtle flaw
The Uke will be posted to you..No collections allowed.By the way,,,,,,There is another Gold plated one currently for sale. Its good for comparison purposes.
See my other excellent sales.
