A beautiful early 19th century antique german violin made in Markneukirchen.Fine antique german violin made in Markneukirchen circa early 19th century. Awesome instrument bearing different repairs which was intensively played. The top is made of two parts of spruce and shows regular narrow grain. The back is made of two parts of maple, the strong curl descending from the center joint. The ribs and head are of the same wood. The varnish is of an orange-brown colour on a golden ground. The head, very nicely carved, has been artistically grafted on a new neck. The neck button has also been changed, possibly by the same restorer. The rosewood pegs are early 20th century and fit perfectly. The instrument comes with a new rectangular case.
