Description
Era: 1924 Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
Brand: Bacon Banjo Type: 5 string resonator
Exact Year: 1924 Model: resonator

Bacon Silverbell banjo, from approx. 1924, with modern custom walnut neck. This was originally a banjo mandolin, but when it arrived in our hands the neck was almost destroyed and there is much less demand for them as well. The resonator is the older Bacon style, "pancake" style fitting tightly onto the pot. The resonator can be removed with one screw and played as an openback banjo as well. All the hardware was cleaned , but not replated. The pot was French polished to protect and revive the finish. The resonator required a new binding, and we used fake ivory and new shellac was added and French polished as well , as the finish was in very rough shape. The neck is walnut with appropriate enlays, a three piece neck, with Planetary style tuners.Scale is 26 1/4", pot is 11 1/16", nut width is 1 1/4", neck at body 2". HSC is included(new). Asking $1200 plus shipping. All work is done at Randolin Music , luthier owned and operated and all work and set ups are done by us.
