This is the rare and unusual Conn 26A Director cornet, from 1930. This horn has been professionally serviced, and is nearly perfect. It is beautiful. There is a small amount of plating wear on the leadpipe. Otherwise, the plating is 95%+ intact and original. There is one small patch on the leadpipe, as you can see in the picture. The pistons have very little plating wear, and the compression is excellent. The corks, piston felts, valve-springs, have been replaced as needed. The bore is .470', measured at the 2nd valve-slide. Overall, this horn is a 9.5 our of 10. It has been lubricated with BERP brand oil and slide grease, which are 100% non-toxic and 100% plant-based. ( I only use this line of lubricants in my shop. Check out their products online. They are awesome. ) The original case comes complete with the original Conn Wonder mouthpiece, and the music lyre. Please note the interesting repair tag, still glued inside the case, dated 1937. This cornet plays very well. It has the rich, mellow sound that is expected from a top professional large-bore cornet of this era. This model was on a par with the more famous (and much more common) Victor Model. At the time, they cost the same. But, very few of these were made, in comparison to the Victor Model. So, today, they are very hard to find, especially in near-pristine condition. This horn has been photographed and described as carefully and honestly as possible. It is being sold for a friend, and is sold AS-IS, since it is not brand-new. There is a $38.00 fee for packing and shipping. It will be very carefully packed, and shipped the fastest way possible, within the $38.00 budget. Please note that I only sell and ship to U.S. buyers. Payment is expected via Paypal, as soon as the horn is purchased. If payment is not made within one day, the sale will be canceled. The horn will be shipped within 3 business days of receiving your payment. Please see my other sales on eBay. Thanks for buying. |
