This well preserved Genuine K. Zildjian "New Stamp" is free of cracks, nicks, bites, and dents. Edges are clean. Small mounting hole is very slightly out of round. Original factory ink stamp "20" 50 1/2 cm MEDIUM" is faint but still intact. Original bell ink cymbalsmith signature is very clear. Cymbal measures slightly under 20" (which was typical of the era). Heavy hand hammering is evident on both top, bottom, and bell. This cymbal is very collectible and holds important original features that often enhance value. The cymbal sounds very dark and trashy. Natural patina creates a warm ride. The lighter weight is very favorable for jazz. Using jazz wood tip sticks, this cymbal easily crashes yet does not wash out. The bell has a lower profile and cuts. Excellent as a primary or LSR. Some K's are duds and this is not one of them. This cymbal was acquired through an estate sale, by way of a reputable music shop, along with an era appropriate Niles set. By all accounts the condition of this K. Zildjian is excellent considering is age, class, weight, and era however has been listed as VG to avoid any controversy. Buy with confidence. If your going to pay a premium for a cymbal like this it should have the positive attributes seen here; desirable weight, factory ink, and a condition free of keyholes, dents, nicks, etc. This K. Zildjian Istanbul 20" Ride is favorably priced and ready for a new home. Shipping will include insurance and signature required delivery. Cymbals here are never polished for resale. If some appear so, it's either very clean to begin with and or it was the work of a prior owner. Natural cymbal patina is very important to some musicians who prefer a darker, more complex, vintage sound. Those who seek a more bright sound, with a fresh brilliant look, might do well by cleaning their cymbals. ("Left the circle, right the circle.") The cymbals listed on Antelope Music are mostly vintage and can be up to 70 years old. As a result, there will be original foundry imperfections and signs of wear however only the most glaring defects might be listed or shown. Quality and rarity will be reflected in the condition rating and price. Cracked or significantly damaged cymbals are not sold by Antelope Music. Lastly, cymbal sizes are rounded to the nearest inch. Cymbal weight is done by scale and year/era/model dating is done through a lot of research however both should only be considered an approximation. Images also serve as product description.
