Up for auction is a nice old antique mid 1900s 1 pc curly maple back "Ch.J.B.Collin Mezin" full size violin for restoration. The nicely figured 1 pc. curly maple back measures 14 1/4 by 8 1/4 inches. The violin is lined and has 4 corner blocks.There are no bassbar or soundpost cracks on the violin. The scroll and pegbox are in good condition and the neck is solid. The fingerboard and pegs are ebony. The pegs turn smoothly and the fingerboard is in good condition. There is no soundpost and there are no open seams. The violin is labelled as a "Ch.J.B. Collin-Mezin 1951 Luthier Grand Prix - Exposition Universell 1900 Paris Modele Selection No 25 Made in France" and there is also a signature in red ink on the label. The violin is for restoration. The violin has age related scratches/wearmarks on the varnish (please check pics). The neck of the violin had been repaired approx. 1/2 inch below the heel of the scroll (please check pics). The repair is stable and holding. The top of the violin has wear in the bridge area and looks to had been refinished at one time (please check pics). Please check pics. and email questions.
