Japanese Asturias hand crafted classical guitar Model C140S This is possibly the most beautifully crafted classical guitar that I have possessed. The quality of workmanship is easily seen with the fine marquetry on the neck heel, and body back and sides. It is one of the lightest guitars that I have owned, yet it produces a fantastic sound. This is what you should expect from a small, well known, workshop of craftsmen in Japan, led by the famous M Matano. This guitar would have been constructed by the highly skilled team and then signed off by Matano. The top is selected from well-seasoned Cedar. The sides and back are Indian Rosewood, as is the bridge and fretboard. The gold plated tuners are possibly the only visual clue to the uninitiated, that this is a high-quality guitar. Scale length: 650mm Nut width: 52mm Considering this guitar was made in the 1970’s, it’s in remarkably good condition. It seems to have got better with age. The Asturias workshop charges between £1165 and £2913 for their models. They are mostly made to order. This one is supplied with the original hard case (which is in good order) for less than the cheapest new model, even though the C140S is a mid-range model. It has a few light scratches on the top and some wear to the back of the body. They are shown in the images. Treat yourself to my favourite guitar.
