Up for sale, a 2006 Rickenbacker 381V69 in near mint condition and in perfect working order. With a prominent German Carve top and back highlighted by heavily figured flame maple and a natural gloss nitro lacquer Mapleglo finish, few guitars can match the elegant visual appeal of the 381. Virtually unplayed and complete with the original case candy and silver tolex hardshell case, this is a prime example of one of Rickenbacker's top-tier models. The toaster top alnico single coil pickups provide a sound that is synonymous with Rickenbacker, producing jangle, chime, and rhythmic percussive cut with ease. There's a distinctive top end character to these pickups that responds very well to clean boost and overdrive pedals for a sound that's glassy, smooth, and harmonically rich. Of course the small fifth knob on the 381's control layout let's you blend the neck pickup into the mix for the perfect balance between top end cut and low end girth. The guitars weighs in at 8lbs 2oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Rickenbacker 381V69 boasts low action, solid intonation, and fresh 10-46 strings. The neck profile is notably deep and round for a Rickenbacker, with a respectable medium C shape with moderate chunk and consistent depth as you move up the fretboard. The bound rosewood board features triangular inlays and stock frets that are incredibly clean with virtually no wear. The headstock sports Rickenbacker's iconic walnut wings, as well as original Rickenbacker Deluxe (Kluson-style) tuning machines. All of the electronics work as they should, with minty plastic parts including the dual pickguards and stock knob quintet. The chrome shines like new and contrasts nicely with the incredibly deep curly flame figuring across the entire body of the instrument. It's the sort of premium figured maple that has a three dimensional quality to the flames, and it takes multiple angles to really appreciate the depth and variety of the figuring. Cosmetically, there's barely a scratch on the guitar, and while we'll conservatively call this guitar "near mint," it is as nice as used example as you'll find on the market, both in terms of the visual appeal and playability.
The original silver tolex Rickenbacker hardshell case is included, along with the original paperwork and case candy.
