The perennial Gibson SG Standard has stood the test of time and is now rightly regarded as a classic in its own right, rather than being in the shadow of Gibson’s ES‑335 and the Les Paul Standard (which the SG was originally intended to replace in 1961). The enduring SG (Solid Guitar) remains Gibson’s best-selling model of all time due to its unique appearance, great upper neck access, versatility, power and light weight. SGs have a great deal of presence and are also very practical instruments. The SG is the guitar of choice for heavy rock artists including Angus Young of AC/DC, Pete Townshend of The Who, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, Robby Krieger of The Doors, and Frank Zappa.   This cool guitar has been owned by me from new (bought from Guitar Amp & Keyboard Centre in Brighton in 2000) and has hardly been used over the past 17 years. It is an excellent professional instrument and I will be sorry to see it go. I am now concentrating on vintage instruments, so it is time for this ‘modern’ take on an iconic guitar and future vintage collectable to find a new home.   This gorgeous Gibson SG Standard has been well-cared for, barely played in and is ready to rock. This is a great pro-level guitar and a genuine true classic.   Features ·        Mahogany double cutaway solid body ·        Classic heritage cherry nitrocellulose finish ·        Mahogany set neck ·        Neck scale length 24¾” ·        Original Gibson Deluxe tuners ·        Bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets and trapeze pearloid markers ·        Chrome hardware ·        Original 3-py black-white-black scratchplate ·        Original twin Gibson humbucking pickups with 3-way selector switch ·        Original knobs, jack socket and strap buttons ·        Original bridge and tailpiece ·        Weight: 5.2lbs (2.35kgs) ·        Original brown hard shell case with pink fur fabric interior ·        Serial number 93079***   Condition This guitar is completely original. It has only had occasional home use and has never been gigged. It is presented in excellent clean condition. While it has been played, there are no dings, nicks, dents or buckle rash. Being picky, there is some very minor playwear and a very minor touch of surface oxidation on the tip of a couple of tuner shafts (see photo), which doesn’t affect use in any way. Otherwise, it looks almost like new. It comes with its original Gibson brown hard shell case.

Good luck.   About CRAVE (Cool & Rare American Vintage Electric) Guitars CRAVE Guitars is a small non-profit organisation showcasing vintage guitars from major US manufacturers, predominantly but not exclusively from Fender and Gibson. The word CRAVE is a play on words. The acronym stands for ‘Cool & Rare American Vintage Electric’, while its literal meaning is ‘to yearn for’ or ‘to want greatly’. If, like me, you find vintage guitars obsessively desirable or you just have an interest in the instruments that influenced modern music history; then CRAVE Guitars may be of interest to you… .   Terms of Sale   Description – I try to photograph and describe the item as accurately as possible.
